Lunch Break: What About Comp Picks?
At his postseason press conference, General Manager Thomas Dimitroff said he estimates three compensatory selections in the 2010 NFL Draft.
Two things:
What is a compensatory or “comp” pick?
Is the thought of three extra picks in the NFL Draft plausible?
First a definition…
Compensatory picks are awarded by the NFL to (what else) compensate teams for free agent losses [...]

King of the coaching one-liners, Mike Smith, is fond of saying you get what you earn in the NFL. Having never posted back-to-back winning seasons, the Falcons haven’t done everything they can to earn the respect of the nation.
Stumbling to a 6-6 record with four games left doens’t help, either.

The Falcons are heading to Dallas.
Get ready, Texas.
I spent a football season living in Houston back in college. As a 21-year-old intern I had no preconceived notions about Texas or its unique love affair with football. But in just a few weeks I couldn’t help following high school football in the Lone Star State.
And that’s [...]

Brooking: Watch Out for Linemen
Cowboys linebacker Keith Brooking spent the first 11 years of his NFL career with the Falcons. He went to five Pro Bowls and, as a rookie, made an appearance in the Super Bowl.
He knows a thing or two about the game… And the Falcons.
When asked in a conference call with Atlanta media Wednesday if he’s [...]
