Uncapped Year and Free Agency
Certainly more news will be made about the possibility of an uncapped year and expiration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement in the offseason but, for now, some players who stand to miss out on unrestricted free agency are coming to light.
Basically, if a new agreement between NFL players and owners is not reached before the [...]

Pregame Notes and Inactives
For the second-straight week the Falcons will be be without their No. 2 and 3 running backs.
Jerious Norwood (hip) and Jason Snelling (hamstring) were added to the Falcons-Redskins inactive list about an hour before kickoff Sunday. Look for Aaron Stecker, signed last week, to back up Pro Bowler Michael Turner and fullbacks Verron Haynes and [...]

Preparing on a Short Week
The Falcons aren’t dwelling on a tough loss at New Orleans for two reasons:
It’s not good to get caught in the past and — more simply — there’s no time to be upset.
Playing on Monday Night Football has its pros when it comes to national attention and spotlight. But it’s a problem for resting and [...]

Birdseed: September 8, 2009
I can’t help but think without the national attention to swine flu the new H1N1 strain of the flu Matt Ryan’s trip home with an illness wouldn’t create much attention.
If anyone in the office or classroom gets sick, the first question — and the correct question — is if it’s the flu.
Now Falcons fans can [...]

Making Monday Moves
The Falcons just announced the release of safety Jamaal Fudge, a move necessary to keep the roster at 53 players with the addition of cornerback/safety Brian Williams.
A graduate of Clemson, Fudge was originally signed by the Falcons off of waivers on Sept. 2, 2008. Last season, he competed in 10 games and recorded 12 tackles.
Notably [...]

Birdseed: August 30, 2009
If you’ve watched the Falcons this preseason you’ve seen an offense that seems able to score at will and, as Head Coach Mike Smith says, a defense that has some work to do.
It doesn’t get more simple than that.
Tight end Tony Gonzalez will be a threat in the red zone. Running back Michael Turner will [...]

Getting Close, Getting Healthy
Linebacker Curtis Lofton, who injured his hamstring at the end of the first day of Russell Falcons Training Camp, returned to the field Monday — a sign the Falcons are getting healthier as the preseason opener approaches.
Lofton, a second-year player from Oklahoma, started 15 of 16 games at middle linebacker last season, has worked with [...]

For the Love of Free Agency
The first weekend of free agency came and went without any new additions to the Falcons roster.
The Birds did make moves to lock up some of their own free agents — key players who started games and will compete for starting positions in the coming season — but the lack of movement left some concerns [...]
