Falcons Bring Back a Familiar Face
The Falcons made a roster move Tuesday to sure up the depth chart in the wake of a season-ending injury to defensive back Brian Williams
Tuesday the team signed free agent safety Jamaal Fudge and placed Williams on the injured reserve list. Fudge originally joined the team just before the start of the 2008 season. He [...]

Making Monday Moves
The Falcons just announced the release of safety Jamaal Fudge, a move necessary to keep the roster at 53 players with the addition of cornerback/safety Brian Williams.
A graduate of Clemson, Fudge was originally signed by the Falcons off of waivers on Sept. 2, 2008. Last season, he competed in 10 games and recorded 12 tackles.
Notably [...]

Birdseed: August 30, 2009
If you’ve watched the Falcons this preseason you’ve seen an offense that seems able to score at will and, as Head Coach Mike Smith says, a defense that has some work to do.
It doesn’t get more simple than that.
Tight end Tony Gonzalez will be a threat in the red zone. Running back Michael Turner will [...]

One-on-One with Thomas Dimitroff
Thomas Dimitroff said Tuesday the Falcons will focus on defense in this weekend’s NFL Draft.
No surprise there.
Dimitroff, Head Coach Mike Smith and countless members of the NFL media have made no secret about the team’s desire to add depth, speed and tenacity to a defense that, though solid in points allowed, gave up too many [...]

The Mock Draft: Version 1.0
This could go well or, like Homer Simpson conducting a monorail, I could be horribly unfit for this job and the mock draft spiral out of control.
Either way we’re in for a wild ride and a little fun, right!?
Keep in mind this is one man’s opinion.
No. 1 — Detroit Lions
QB Matthew Stafford, Georgia
In a perfect [...]

Birdseed: March, 3, 2009
The Falcons have quietly evaluated the free agent market for four days and could very well keep a patient eye on the NFL landscape longer in order to ensure the acquisition of quality talent at the appropriate price.
Then again, maybe this won’t be an ordinary Tuesday since the Birds have found ways to stay in [...]

Birdseed: March 2, 2009
The Falcons were quiet in the first weekend of free agency but there’s something to be said for detailed and cautious planning.
Upon joining the team General Manager Thomas Dimitroff and Head Coach Mike Smith talked about the importance of evaluating players with an unbiased approach. The pair meet regularly — often daily — to talk [...]

On the Air: Feb. 27, 2009
Time for a new segment on the blog.
Today I created a special YouTube Channel to house some of the video interviews, tours and other manners of wackiness that go on here in the AF.com studio.
It’s called, creatively, “jmikesmissives.”
Also today I had a chance to talk with Kevin Thomas of WSFN “The Fan” Sports Radio in [...]

Foxworth to Baltimore?
We could soon hear official news on a homecoming for one of the Falcons free agents.
And it doesn’t involve a return to Atlanta.
Multiple sources are hinting at a deal between the Baltimore Ravens and cornerback Domonique Foxworth. The Ravens will hold a press conference in about an hour and, while they won’t say which player [...]
