Birds Trade Up, Select Franks
The Falcons made a fifth-round trade in the 2010 NFL Draft to move up to No. 135 overall and select Oklahoma cornerback Dominique Franks.
Atlanta traded the 149th (fifth round) and 189th (sixth round) selections in Day Three to the St. Louis Rams for the selection, leaving the Falcons with two additional picks on Saturday.

Weeks of speculation, research and gut reactions have come down to this… Mock Draft Version 5.0.
Let me first remind all of you loyal and supportive readers that I make these selections based on my six-plus years in the NFL and knowledge of the Falcons as a reporter — not unlike other mock drafts you see [...]

Report: Linebacker Interest?
According to the National Football Post (via Yahoo), the Falcons have plans to visit with Mississippi State linebacker Jamar Chaney before the NFL Draft.
Chaney draws comparisons to current Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo and Pro Bowl 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis. Himself an SEC standout, Chaney’s stock is rising into the middle rounds of the selection process.
He’s [...]

Lofton Sees Improvement
After close to four months to think about it, linebacker Curtis Lofton has landed on the reason he wasn’t named to his first Pro Bowl after the 2009 season.
“They made more game-changing plays than I did,” Lofton said Monday evening after his appearance at the Taco Mac Insider Reality Show. “I have to impact the [...]

Taco Mac Insider: Lynn Kicks it Off
Britton Lynn started the skills challenge portion of the Taco Mac Insider Reality Show Monday night at Taco Mac Lindbergh, pulling together an interview with linebacker Curtis Lofton.
But that wasn’t the biggest part of the challenge.

Lunch Break: Linebacker Lowdown
One of the best quotes of the season came via the mouth of Falcons linebacker Curtis Lofton.
On a day when many in the locker room were vocally frustrated about the lack of Pro Bowl nominations (no Falcons will go to the game), Lofton spoke simply and in a soft — but forceful — tone.
“My season [...]

Falconcast: So We Meet Again
The Chicago Cubs have the 101-year streak without a World Series championship but if you type “dubious sports streaks” into a Google search engine you’re bombarded with stories about the Atlanta Falcons.
Go ahead and try to downplay the importance of back-to-back winning seasons.
Wide receiver Roddy White, who was left off the Pro Bowl roster, declared [...]

Examining the Injury Report
With the final game of the season rapidly approaching, the Falcons hit the field for practice Wednesday afternoon just before a rare mix of wintery weather, mostly sleet, found its way to Flowery Branch.
Thankfully no one slipped on any ice.
That would be a frustrating addition to an already lengthy injury report that includes the team’s punter [...]

About the Whole Pro Bowl Thing…
Curtis Lofton, Roddy White and Tony Gonzalez were asked about the Pro Bowl voting Wednesday. They are the three Falcons players widely viewed as having a shot at the game.
As it turns out, all three weren’t invited.
It snaps a 10-year streak of Pro Bowl appearances for Gonzalez. It would have been the second-straight trip for White and [...]
