Maps and Notes for Week 12 Television
Two things are certain on Thanksgiving:
I’ll fall into a food comma at some point because of Mrs. J. Mike’s delicious cooking.
The Lions will play (and probably lose).
Before I turn on the office television to watch a little Thanksgiving pigskin and, later, go home to a feast, I’ll detail a little about the weekend television schedule.
(It’s [...]

Week 9 Television Notes
It seems like a month since the Falcons last played in the Georgia Dome. In fact, the span between an Oct. 18 victory over the Chicago Bears and Sunday’s game against the Redskins is exactly 21 days.
And the road games between weren’t too kind to the Falcons.
In a blink the Falcons went from 4-1 to [...]

Moore Goes on Injured Reserve
For the second time this season the Falcons have placed a 2009 draft selection on the season-ending injured reserve list.
The team placed second-round pick William Moore (hamstring) on the list Tuesday afternoon, just more than a month after adding first-round pick Peria Jerry (knee). In all, the Falcons have four players on IR.
Moore underwent knee [...]

A Not So Subtle Reminder
Any Given Sunday won’t be the feature film on the Falcons flight back to Atlanta Sunday evening.
But it would be appropriate.
The Falcons flew to a new height in a Week 6 victory over the Chicago Bears, but just as quickly swooped back to the ground against the Cowboys Sunday in Arlington, Texas.
You can find examples [...]

Falconcast: Cowboys Preview
With proper respect and reverence to the 1927 Yankees, the Falcons are in the midst of a Murders’ Row when it comes to an NFL schedule: Five of seven games on the road from Oct. 11 to Nov. 22, including back-to-back road games at Dallas (3-2) and NFC-leading New Orleans (6-0).
Thus far the Falcons (4-1) [...]

Week 7 Television Notes
Welcome back to regional television coverage, Falcons fans. How did that Sunday Night Football game treat you?
After a prime time win over the Chicago Bears the Falcons begin a two-game stretch that features a near-national audience and a world stage on Monday Night Football. Looking ahead to the next home game against the Washington Redskins, [...]

DeCoud Earns Defensive Honor
Second-year safety Thomas DeCoud has improved steadily since taking over as a starter in the offseason.
Cross another accomplishment off his checklist for success.
DeCoud was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week Wednesday for his two-interception performance against the Chicago Bears. The first two picks of his young career ended Bears scoring threats and were key [...]

Birdseed: October 19, 2009
Something about the Bears coming to town brings out the best in the Georgia Dome crowd and the Falcons.
It also stirs up a little storm of luck that, for now, seems to be on the Falcons’ side. But like a tornado slicing through the plains, luck can be a fickle friend. This is particularly true [...]

Snapshots of Success
Compared to last week’s 45-10 thumping of the 49ers, you’d think Sunday’s game against the Bears a bit more tame. Not as many “snapshots of success.”
On the contrary…
How about the image of Thomas DeCoud holding up two, pink-gloved fingers to signify the second of two key interceptions? Coy Wire yanking the ball away from Matt [...]
