The Falcons announced the addition of two players to the active roster who tried out with the team during last weekend’s mini camp.
Quarterback Eric Ward and defensive back Daylan Walker will re-join the team May 17 when rookies return for a four-practice session.
An Atlanta native, Ward (6-foot-2, 210 pounds) played at Richmond, completing 784 passes for 8,969 yards and 61 touchdowns in his career. He also rushed for 1,406 yards and 22 scores. Ward threw for more than 2,300 yards and 16 scores last season.
He holds single-season school records in completion percentage, passing yards, attempts and completions. He also tied the single-season record with 17 touchdown passes in 2008. Ward ranked 26th in the nation with a career-best 141.5 passer rating the same season.
Walker (5-foot-9, 177 pounds) totaled 152 career tackles, three picks and 16 passes defensed at Arkansas State. He notched 51 tackles, an interception and seven pass breakups last year and ranked third on the team with 65 tackles in 2008.

Can you say bye bye DJ. This kid will take his practice squad spot and possibly push JPW.
yeah right! hell be cut by our 3rd preseason game
WHY?? Would The Falcons Be Interested In ANOTHER Q/B?
They Don’t Play The Ones They Have Behind Ryan!
Amen, we need some help if Ryan goes out you see what happened last year, we could have made the playoffs. if one more win.
The Falcons are creating depth at all positions and this creates competition. I like signing another QB and CB, no one should feel their job is safe unless earned. Even Ryan should feel pressue if he cant get the job done. I am excied and I am glad no one is talking about the Falcons as serious contenders for the title. We almost beat the Saints twice last year and we were undermanned.
sign mr.wolfe. just look at the tapes n ull be impressed, jenks doesnt cut the mustard n finneran is getting on a bit
I like what McIntosh it football and of you haven’t earned you spot everyone should be on they toes. great work falcon staff
that kid they’re looking at that plays QB will more than likely play WR in the NFL. Most QB’s have good hands and with all the hands we have of the roster right now, looks like we’re going for possession type WR. Plus who is our OC again??? that’s right he was part of the Randle El and Hinez Ward drafting…. both for QB’s converted WR’s.
The competition is between 2nd and 3rd qb spots, Ryan job is safe you da
QB’s didn’t loose us any games…However….. our kicker did! I agree no talent should be overlooked at any position, even if you have a franchise player. This is football, and players can be lost at the snap of a finger, or ankle, or toe, ect….
I really like keeping a nother CB because the ones we had last year were ok at best we really need to get better at CB to get into the play offs!
We need to sign Daryn Harvey. He was the second best reciever on the field saturday. Umm Roddy White is and always shall be THE man.
Anybody heard what’s going on with Chauncey Davis? I thought he’s come on real strong in recent seasons and although he’s not a rookie he’s performed better than our first round flop that will be adding DT depth. The guy produces when he’s in the game.
We need to take a good look at Stone and see if he can help out the pass rush I like Kroy and Sid and John and Davis but since JA98 is a big time bust maybe he can pick up the lack.
Ward earned this signing. He was a breath of fresh air at the mini camp. He’ll play in the other league until baked, but what a winning attitude. Imagine if the kid in Oakland Russell had to EARN his way in this manner. What hustle he may have shown. GO ahead Ward, you earned this one.
Eric Ward will not be an converted WR as Mr. Wisdom tried to insinuate, He is a pure QB has had played QB from little leauge to now so convering him now is not even a question. He(Ward) will most likely beat out D.J. and has a good chance of beating out John Park-Wilson. Danlay Walker signing give us depth at CB and also some more ST help which is good we need more gunners, I think the Falcons are taking the right steps.
still want TO
