What They’re Saying about ‘Spoon’

Special thanks to former New Media Intern Vance (back in town to help for the weekend) for finding the perfect rallying cry for Sean Weatherspoon’s arrival in Atlanta.

Of course, it’s already taken.

Judging from the FalconsLIFE Message Boards, fans are thrilled to have a reason to scream “Spoon!” for the former Missouri linebackers (I can just hear the chant in the Georgia Dome now after a big hit… “SPOOOOON!”).

But what does the media have to say?

Falcons still need linemen (and Weatherspoon video-palooza), Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Already talking about the rest of the draft? Well, I guess that’s what you get when it’s a three-day process.

This is the pick the Falcons had in mind for a while.

Perhaps a little premature, but draft picks certainly add competition.

The Falcons made this pick, calling Weatherspoon at 9:32 p.m. and not using the allotted 10 minutes to make a selection.

Judge how big of an impact Weatherspoon will make by learning what he leaves behind.

I have to agree with most all 600 million Falcons fans and say Weatherspoon was a good pick.

But if I may, I really don’t care for the new NFL draft thing where it is busted up for primetime over three days.

    Okay, so shoot me.

I hope we do as well in 2-3 tonight and 4-7 tomorrow and 8-34 the night after…

    Is it July yet?

I like the pick. Now, I would like to see a good DE. With Sergio Kindle sure to gone in the 3rd I am thinking maybe a Ricky Sapp or Carlos Dunlap.

Great pick to a defense that struggled last year…especially on third downs. We have to get a reciever to compliment Roddy White next. Decker maybe?

Spoon was tha number one player the falcons should have gone for but that Corey Peters I’m not sure about that, that might have been for depth but Jordan Shipley was right there in our laps and we let him pass we can’t get Jimmy Graham because New Orleans picked he could have been the next Gonzo hopfully we will get Dorin Dickerson or Riley Cooper at TE tomorrow but Brandon Lang is still on the board there is our defensive end right there and pick Matt Tennant so we can have a solid back up at center but it’s really been a good draft so far it’s alot of talent left al we have to do is find it and pick it.
