I put together five versions of a first-round mock draft this season. None of them fared well compared to the real thing.
When it comes to Mock Draft Version 5.0, I nailed the first three picks. At pick No. 4, things started to spiral out of control. In all, I got four selections right (including the Falcons pick of Sean Weatherspoon). So, I guess I got it going where it counted.
In five instances I got the position right. I got 24 of the players taken in the first round correct.
That’s about it for this blog post… Looking forward is more important than looking back anyway, right?

you did a heck of a job J.Mike. I think everyone’s mock was screwed up after the 4th pick. Mel Kiper’s face was priceless when Tyson Alualu was picked haha
Hey J. MIKE WE CAN’T GET THEM ALL. HELL I WAS EVEN WRONG AND DIDN’T SEE US GETTING WEATHERSPOON,BUT THAT JUST MIGHT BE AN (AWESOME)PICK I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO BE EITHER DERRICK MORGAN OR TAYLOR MAYS OR MAURICE POUNCEY. BUT I CANT WAIT TO SEE OUR WHOLE (DEFENSE) HEALTHY AND MICHAEL TURNER SO WE CAN REALLY SEE WHAT WE CAN DO!!!!!!!!!
Hey all that really matters J. Mike is that we got the guy you predicted and that we predicted. I also see that TD is interested in getting in the second round of the draft what picks do you think he will give up to get there. Also if they make a Weatherspoon jersey I’m going to get it, but if they don’t I don’t mind paying a little extra to make one of my own once I find out his jersey number.
In huddle report scoring you would have done pretty solidly. you would have gotten a 35. which would have put you around 75th or so. not bad for a guy only focusing on one team the other 11 months out of hte year.
Jmike,I stand corrected!I was sure we would go in another direction,But with that being said.Weatherspoon will make a fine addition to our LB corps.Jmike,is there any indication we are planning to move up and get a second round pick?
Good Job JMike! Looking forward to tonights second round picks
We need to talk to the New York Gaints and give them our second third round and fourth round pick for that young DE they have I cant spell his name but I will try Unsionmor lol but he will be a great fit and the Gaints are welling to talk so lets go for it him and big john 55 and Pj and him will be all the rush we need and our cb will clean up can you say SuperBowl. Go Dirty Birds!!!!!!!!!!
if you’re talking about Osi Umenyora we would need a hell of a lot more then a 3rd and 4th round pick for that guy. When he stays healthy he’s easily one of the top 5 D Ends in the league.
If we can get into the second round, do we pick Todd McClure’s eventual successor (Matt Tennant from BC), maybe an OG in John Jerry (need some depth here), or a compliment to Michael Turner in Dexter McCluster (RB became an apparent offensive need when we were down to only Jason Snelling.). Thoughts anyone?
I enjoyed your mocks JMike and your viewpoints made sense. This is going to be a fun two days for Falcons fans and hopefully, 2010 will be a great year!
If i could have one wish it would be for the injury bug to leave atlanta.
I for got it should have been to wishes. We could also try an get DE Alex Brown from chicago.
