Thoughts on the 2010 Schedule Release

If you haven’t done so already, I’ll pause to give a chance to print off the 2010 regular season schedule and start marking ‘Ws’ and ‘Ls’ beside each opponent…

Long enough?

Good, because there’s serious business to discuss when it comes to the placement of Falcons games in 2010.

We’ve known the opponents and the locations since early January, but it’s not until you stack up the order and travel of the regular season that you start getting a clear picture — or prediction — on how the year may actually go.

==========

Let’s start by stating the obvious — marking wins and losses before the season begins is often a pointless exercise. No one knows how well (or how poorly) some teams will do based strictly on the season before.

Some additional thoughts when I look at the schedule…

  • The Falcons face four 2009 playoff teams in the first eight games — Arizona, New Orleans, Philadelphia and Cincinnati.
  • Three-straight road trips in December won’t be easy but two of them (Tampa and Charlotte) are close.
  • The Falcons will face the Saints on Monday Night Football, but this game will be at the Georgia Dome in Week 16 (playoff implications)?
  • The Falcons will play on Thursday night for the first time since Thanksgiving 2007 (a Colts win).
  • Atlanta plays just one division game in the first eight weeks of the season.
  • Four of the last five games are division games.

So what are your thoughts Falcons fans?

I know you have them.

Schedule looks good. I am really excited. But what do we have to do to get a couple of MNF? It is not easy to follow Falcons from Wes Coast and not having enough national broadcast does not help. Oh well….

The Falcons will finish 8-8 at best. Here is there schedule and results:

at Pit Loss-Regardless if they have Ben Roethlisberger or not, the Falcons won’t score on Pittsburgh’s defense and Pitt will run the ball down their throats.

Ari The Falcons will win this game as I do not see Matt Leinhart being an effective QB, plus it is at the Georgia Dome.

at NO It in New Orleans….nothing more to say but loss.

SF Should be an easy home win for birds.

at CLE I am going to give ATL the benefit of the doubt on this one, but it would not surprise me if CLE wins.

at PHI Michael Vick against the Falcons in Philly??? Not going to win Falcons fans.

CIN This should be a close game, but in the end I think there will be too much Ochocinco, Benson and Palmer to go around and the birds lose.

    TB Obvious win for birds

BAL Flacco wins the battle of QB’s from the 2008 draft

    at STL Win for birds

GB Rogers and Pack have too much fire power for birds. Here is another loss.

at TB Should be an easy win for birds

at CAR Always tough for birds to win in CAR. This will be a loss.

at SEA Traveling across the country to play a team that underachieved last year will be tough for the birds. This will be a loss.

NO Since in most years these two teams split, I will give the birds the benefit, but don’t be shocked if they lose.

CAR Falcons win to end the season.

1 at Pittsburgh( W, No Big Ben due to suspension, and No Santonio Holmes due to trade with NYJ)
2 vs Arizona( W, No Kurt Warner for Arizona due to retirement)
3 at New Orleans( W, Almost beat them twice in 09, but there was a lack of looking for a different WR/TE wide open, and not getting in Brees’ face )
4 vs San Francisco( W, Just because we beat them really bad last year, and to make my 9er friends hate me more since I live in California)
5 at Cleveland( W, Just because it’s Cleveland)
6 at Philadelphia( W, No McNabb, and a young QB)
7 vs Cincinnati( W, Because I don’t think their D can cover our Offensive weapons)
    8 BYE WEEK
9 vs Tampa Bay( W, Due to really young QB)
10 vs Baltimore( W/L, 08 1st Round Qb’s battle it out to see who is better could go either way)
11 at St. Louis( W, Due to a rookie QB that’s under a lot of pressure)
12 vs Green Bay( W/L, Green Bay is pretty good so it could go either way)
13 at Tampa Bay( W, Look at week 9 notes)
14 at Carolina( W, The Burner would have gone for over 200 yds if he did’t injure his ankle and we could have won.
15 at Seattle( W, Because Sea is trying to refind its self and could take a long time to do that)
16 vs New Orleans( W, look at week 3 notes)
    17 vs.Carolina( W, look at week 14 notes)

at best 16-0 at worst 13-3, if anything happens like we somehow lose then 11-5. ATL SB 45 it’s our time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if your a falcons fan reading some of these posts …u too must be laughing at these guys that dont think the falcons can beat these teams that are rebuilding ..dont tell me cleve is gonna win nor will philly or bal, this is the season of the birds the offense is 100% healthy as well as the help we get on D from the draft we should be well rounded like in 98′ ! (12-4) (13-3) and we have the bye week in the middle of the season so that helps… if your not a falcons fan stay off this blog!!!!
