Report: Western Focus?

According to D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and other sources, the Falcons have turned some pre-draft attention to three players from the Pac-10.

Defensive linemen Brian Price (UCLA) and Everson Griffen (USC) and linebacker Vuna Tuihalamaka (Arizona) have either worked out or will workout for the team.

Tuihalamaka was not invited to the Scouting Combine in February but did start every game for the Wildcats last season.

Griffen has been a regular in mock drafts for the Falcons and is regarded as one of the first-round defensive end prospects. Price, a defensive tackle, is moving up draft boards with his solid play and status as the Pac 10 Defensive Player of the Year for 2009.

Here is the most complete list of players to work out for the Falcons to my knowledge (other people chime in if you know anything!):

    Brian Price, DT, UCLA
    Everson Griffen, DE, USC
    Vuna Tuihalamaka, LB, Arizona
    Corey Peters, DT, Kentucky
    Damien Williams, WR, USC
    Jared Odrick, DT, Penn State
    Rolando McClain, ILB, Alabama
    Sean Weatherspoon, OLB, Missouri
    Matt Tennant, C, Boston College
    Ryan Wolfe, WR, UNLV
    Joe Hawley, C/OG, UNLV
    Michael Palmer, TE, Clemson
    Anthony Levine, S, Tennessee State

Falcons get 30 total private workouts per NFL rules. Also of note, both Smitty and TD attended Ted Larsen (C, NC State) pro day on 4/1.

I wish we had a second round drsft pick this year. There are alot of great players falling into the second round and we could get them a great prices. It almost sounds we could get a center in the first round but if we had a second round pick i think we could get a similartalent and go defense our first round.

I say we get Taylor Mays at 19 if he’s there. We then bring him down to play in the box more than back there playing the pass. I guarantee we can pick up Bauman in the 3rd OLB, he’s just a notch or two under spoon. We don’t need to look to DE until the 5th and 6th rounds. This is what i think we should do.

    1. Taylor Mays- S/OLB
    3. Navaro Bauman-OLB
    3. Marty Gilyard -WR
    4. Joe McKnight- RB/WR
    5. Kevin Thomas- 6″0 200 pound corner from USC
    6. Jason Worlds- DE
    6. ED Wang- RG
    7. Best Kicker

yea, a linebacker, center, and kicker would be nice in this draft, considering how steve h. was cut by the ravens because he couldn’t deliver in big moments. i’m worried he might have a repeat
