Gonzalez: “We Have the Horses…”

With his first catch in the 2010 regular season, tight end Tony Gonzalez will become one of only seven NFL players to ever record 1,000 grabs in a career.

By the end of the year, he wants to surpass that accomplishment with a Super Bowl title.

Gonzalez was the featured guest on NFL Total Access Thursday night, boldly saying the 2010 Atlanta Falcons could be the best team he’s ever played with.

“I’m excited,” Gonzalez told Rich Eisen. “I’m always that way, anyway, but I really feel this could be the best team I’ve ever played for. Every position is covered, we just have to go out there and work for it.

“We have the horses to go out there and get the job done this year.”

The Falcons finished 9-7 in Gonzalez’s first year in Atlanta — his 13th in the NFL. The future Hall of Famer had 83 catches for 867 yards and six touchdowns. He’s the league’s all-time leader among tight ends in almost every statistical category but had a streak of 10-straight Pro Bowl appearances snapped after the 2009 season.

Gonzalez also talked about his new business ventureAll-Pro Science — and what could happen in the NFL if a new collective bargaining agreement is not approved.

“If we can’t figure out something to make this thing happen — to get to the bottom of this and let it be fair for both sides — it would be shame,” he said.

I love the way Tony Gonzales was able to step in and become the face of this Atlanta Falcons organization. Having a first ballot Hall of Famer on the roster does alot for the culture of this organization. In my mind Tony Gonzales is the leader of this football team. One day Matt Ryan will get the chance to be the leader but he’s not ready yet. I would rather he concentrate more on improving his game and stay away from the commercials and limelight. Now draft Spoon with the 19th pick , get our 1st and 2nd picks from last year healthy and on the field and I believe this team will be on track to success.

We have the players to get it done. The defense started to come around towards the end of the season. Let’s open up the offensive playbook and kick some tale this season.

I know Tony is right, but there is a couple of things we need like – joseph h. said we need a wide reciever, deffensive end, corner back, and another GOOD running back. If we have those few things we will have the best year EVER!

    GO FALCONS
