Marty Lauzon has joined the Falcons as the team’s new head athletic trainer. The staffing change became official Tuesday.
Lauzon spent 10 seasons with the Cleveland Browns — four as the team’s head trainer. Along with holding a host of certifications, he also has experience in CFL and college ranks.
The Falcons also announced the addition of assistant athletic trainers James Williams and Danny Long. Both spent time in Cleveland in similar capacities.
Long-time trainer Ron Medlin won’t return for the 2010 season.

Well done falcons training staff. This move had to be done. When you have one of the most players on Injured Reserve, you have to make a change the next season, and you guys have done that. I couldn’t agree more to make this change, good job atlanta.

And what will he be assisting with, just injuries and stretching and things of that sort?
Ummm… Wasn’t he the trainer when the big staph infection breakout hit the Browns training facility? I’m just saying.
Moore, is this a conditioning Coach?
I’m not happy about gaining anyone from the browns
lets hope this benefits the team and help get championships. starting with NFC South. than NFC. than Superbowl !

Yes and no. The team has strength and conditioning coaches that oversee weightlifting and overall conditioning. Trainers, of course, keep an eye on this (it’s a team effort) but in a few words take on the health of a player and rehab — wrapping ankles and getting guys back on the field.
Sounds Good! Look foward to a healthy season next year.
Not sure I want anybody from the Browns working for us but it had to be done. Injuries killed us last year and I really do believe that this team was a playoff team when healthy.
A Strength and Conditioning coach is in charge of the overall performance/sport specific goals of the organization, ie; weight training, fitness, etc…the athletic trainer is responsible for any and all injuries incurred as result of football and his job is to work WITH the S&C, not oversee, in terms of monitoring rehab, prehab and restructuring or reorganizing training protocols as they see fit to any athlete and any injuries an athlete may be ailing from in order to get that athlete back to the playing field…So, S&C=get big, strong, fit, prevent injuries and punish…Athletic trainer=stay healthy, get healthy and be eyes and ears of MDs…
