The buzz around the Internet today is on the coaching carousel.
Mike Shanahan to Washington. Assistants moving around and promoted to coordinator. Head coaches keeping the job for another year… for now.
Coach movement is something largely covered but not completely broken down. Consider for a moment the assistant coaches finding additional jobs and — in some cases — scouts and personnel men moving about to find the most appropriate system.
It can be a drastic change.
But that’s something the Falcons haven’t dealt with for going on two years.
For another offseason the team and its staff know what to expect for mini camp and training camp practices, the style of organized team activities and the placement of charity golf tournaments and media availability.
There’s comfort in familiarity and, as D. Orlando Ledbetter puts it, “keeping the band together.”

I think we sjpuld go and this offseason try and get casy hampton from the steelers seeing that he is in the last year of his contract,, so this will be his last year with pittsburgh., and we can get some extra room by releasing JA98. lol why do yinz think??
back to back winning seasons finally. we are set on our offense and Thank god for our conerbacks, they are playing their hearts out but we need a new end 98 ant worth 98 cent no more. let beirman start and get 1 in the draft and also get a wide reciver JENKINS SUCKS, COME BACK HARRY DOUGLESS.
HEY WHATS CASEY HAMPTONS NUMBER??………. OH MY GOD ITS 98 LOL LETS GET HIM THIS OFF SEASON.
All I’ve ever wanted back to back. Now a play off push starting this year 2010 for the future, every year.
Essayons=Let us try.
didnt make the playoffs but we got that curse off our backs finally but im lookn for the changes in i cant wait til next season go falcons in im mad cause no falcons made the playoffs wtf NFL thats messed up
Sidbury made a splash at the end there also. According to his draft info he was conistantly a beast and always harrassing the QB. He is smart to boot he graduated with honors and that tells me he is disciplined. The reason that he was a late pick is because he wasn’t from a BCS school. He was the best end with the best #s from a 2a school. After a lot of study I really think we need a monster OLB. Our team definatly has some dead weight. JA98, Houston, Jenkins are a few but I think noorwood still may have his best ball in front of him. It dawned on me watching that last game that dude can fly in open space. He can’t run through a line like turner or snelling. He has been used incorrectly by malarkey.
nnamdi asomughaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
plz
trade abraham and turner. i tink snelling good enuf
I say let go DE Jamaal Anderson and sign Elvis Dumervil and draft Patrick Robinson from Florida State.
Owens and Grimes had good games against the Jets, Bills and Tampa Bay. All three had young inexperienced QB’s so lets calm down. Biermann is a backup pass rushing end that’s it people. He is not an every down DE period.
I agree Jenkins did not do to good this season
Beirmann and Sidbury are the future along with Lofton, Decoud and Jerry, now lets take a good look and cull the ones that haven’t shown good future ability. FA and the draft can go a long way to finishing this defense for next year. On the offensive side we need a center(age), wide receiver and either a speed back or O lineman.
GO FALCONS AND GO SOUTHERN RUSH.
Mitun I agree accept drafting another rookie in the secondary is crazy although Robinson is always in the mix every down. Did you see him chase down Noel devine in that bowl game. Here’s the deal both grimes and Owens cover the ball but someone like Robinson plays the reciever. That’s what we need. He gets less picks but gives up less big plays. I really think we need to use our one good pick on OLB or OT. Did someone say trade Turner? Cmon man really??? Dumervil is a great fit but I don’t see us getting him away from Denver.
mike murlarkey and brian van gorder need to go if we want to better this atlanta falcons football organization please new defensive and offensive coordinators charlie weis just signed by the cheifs can we please get romeo crennel
Everybody is down on John Abrams. Why? John Abrams is still one of the best defensive ends around. Lets take the same situation as from the cb’s. Offenses passed all over our cb’s and backfield this year. So they didn’t have to run the ball. Our cb’s are weak. Sure they came on strong in the last 3 weeks. Owens a rookie, looked very good the last few games. Grimes, my opinion is a good cb. However he is to small and got burned ALOT this year. Now lets apply the same to Abrams. When you have no one on the other end that is as good as Abrams they can afford to double team him. I saw Jamaal Anderson play some on the inside this year and got in the backfield for great plays. He is not the defensive end the birds need. Bierman made some great plays, his day is coming. In the offseason find another strong DE. Leave Abrams alone he will do fine when he has another good end on the opposite side. As for the CB’s. Taller, faster, stronger and more aggressive players are needed. This is a no cap season. Shop birds, shop. Oh and by the way, Falcons you are my home team and I love to watch the birds play. CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR FIRST EVER BACK TO BACK WINING SEASON. Getting this out of the way this year was just as exciting as making the playoffs… WAY TO GO !!!!!!!!
Give Norwood one more season. J Anderson got to go. He should take Chris Houston with him. With Douglas back Jenkins can answer his true calling… no 3. We need a shutdown cb, another lb to spell the guys we already have, and a strong pass rusher. Super Bowl baby! With an improved D the offense will shine bright. Did someone really say trade Gonzalez? Shut up, stupid.
