In talking with Cecil Lammey of DraftGuys.com — one of a small army of draft gurus and reporters that descended on Senior Bowl practice this week — the idea of consistency was reinforced.
With most NFL teams forming opinions on college players well before the All-Star/pre-draft season, these days of practice are used for equal parts [...]

He’s One of the Draft Guys
Not unlike the Super Bowl, Pro Bowl, Combine, NFL Draft or any other NFL event, the popularity of the Senior Bowl has grown steadily over the last decade.
Just one problem…
NFL scouts at the Senior Bowl, as a rule, are a quiet group.
Scouts and personnel executives may wear team jackets and stick together in clumps, but [...]

Thomas DeCoud… An All Joe
Falcons second-year safety Thomas DeCoud was named to the USA Today All-Joe Team Wednesday afternoon.
The list was headlined by Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco and formed with players who “are not average or even sloppy, but rather unheralded, unloved and, sometimes, underpaid since the one prerequisite for being an All-Joe is [...]

Lunch Break: Special Teams Spiel
It was a year of ups and downs for the Falcons special teams, which faced injuries and intense scrutiny in the kicking game. But, things settled at the end of the season as the team cranked out three-straight wins to close the 2009 campaign.
Punter Michael Koenen and return man Eric Weems were consistent contributors and [...]

Flipped on TweetDeck this morning and picked up a report from @AJCFalcons at the Senior Bowl saying Oklahoma State cornerback Perrish Cox has talked with the Falcons.
Let’s first clarify simply talking to a player doesn’t guarantee a team is ready to draft him. One of the best parts about the Senior Bowl is the ample [...]

Roddy White Heading to Pro Bowl
Falcons wide receiver Roddy White was a late addition to the NFC Pro Bowl roster, the team confirmed Tuesday afternoon. Originally selected as an alternate for the game, White will make the trip to Miami and is expected to play Sunday evening.
He will replace Minnesota receiver Sidney Rice on the roster.
White finished 2009 with a [...]

BLOGGER’S NOTE: The next few editions of “Birdseed” will depart from the usual “talk about the Falcons” ritual a bit and focus on the reason why the Flowery Branch headquarters is so quiet this week — the Senior Bowl. AtlantaFalcons.com did not make the trip to Mobile, Ala. for this year’s festivities, but that doesn’t [...]

Looking for a Reason to Feel Super?
Falcons fans have 13 days to make a very tough decision but, when Super Bowl XLIV kicks off in South Florida on Feb. 7, minds must be made up.
Are you rooting for the Saints?
Atlanta and New Orleans have, perhaps, the most storied rivalry in the NFC South. Based, in part, on shared futility the Saints [...]

Lewis Added to Defensive Staff
The Falcons announced the addition of Tim Lewis to the coaching staff Monday, 13 days after it was announced assistant head coach/secondary Emmitt Thomas’ contract would not be renewed.
In Lewis, the Falcons get another former player turned coach with experience as an NFL defensive coordinator. He will serve as the team’s secondary coach.
