Curtis Lofton, Roddy White and Tony Gonzalez were asked about the Pro Bowl voting Wednesday. They are the three Falcons players widely viewed as having a shot at the game.
As it turns out, all three weren’t invited.
It snaps a 10-year streak of Pro Bowl appearances for Gonzalez. It would have been the second-straight trip for White and the first for Lofton, who spent a large portion of the season leading the NFL in tackles.
But, as a good leader often does, Lofton found the words to put it all in perspective…

“My season speaks for itself,” he said. “Just because you don’t go to the Pro Bowl doesn’t mean you didn’t have a good season.”
Gonzalez and White said the snub gives them extra motivation to play hard Sunday in the season finale in Tampa. If Lofton feels the same way, we may see a few defensive fireworks.

my view is our FALCONS never get the respect that we deserve our players played hard every game if not harder than these other so called big football organizations and our players deserve some recognition. Gonzales, white, lofton should be there! well the bucs are going to have hell to pay sunday and our falcons will be motivated for next season i look forward to seeing them in the best playoff run in history and a superbowl win!
Curtis Lofton getting snubbed is unbelievable! I look forward to him having a Jesse Tuggle type of career here in Atlanta, with many Pro Bowls; but we will always know the number of times will be one short.
I’m in agreement that Gonzales,White, and lofton played hard,a few others did too,Snellin,Weems,Turner (when healthy),and Koenen…but thats about as far as i would go,i would have even thrown Grimes in there, but he gave up some big plays,he’s young, maybe tryin to find his groove,i think he will get better…..To say the Falcons played hard every game, would be a joke, this team has played soft, with the exception of the S.F. game, they did not start playing hard til there was nothing to play for, last 2 games is how they should have been playing all year.I think the team and the especially the coach got a big head this year, and kept thinking they would turn it around, and before they knew it,had lost 4,5,6,7 games, and wouldnt make any adjustments, coaches fault.I’ve said it before and i hope i wrong,i think M.Smith is way over his head, prove me wrong Smitty, next year….tired of saying that.Oh well,we still have the b2b winning seasons to play for….Fly High FALCONS
I feel the snubs are a statement to our team that we underachieved this year. We’ve got a solid group of guys who’ve played hard all year but haven’t been able to be consistent. After the game in San Francisco, I truly felt we had found our groove on offense and made some solid plays on defense as well, but the loss in Dallas seem to take some steam out of us and we didn’t recover. Injuries put the icing on it, however, I feel its important we keep up the momentum and keep winning to finish the season with a win and make history for the franchise. But let’s give an honorable mention to these guys for having GREAT seasons:
1) Curtis Lofton – simply amazing
2) White – he is showing us consistency when the offense is clicking
3) Gonzalez – though he went M.I.A a few games, overall he is sooo good!!
4) Micheal Turner – let’s face it, he is a monster and when he’s healthy, a top 3 back easy
Good Seasons:
1) Ryan – ok, we saw he was human this season and he made some very bad mistakes this year, but overall his progression is going well, he still has an overall winning record and you can make an argument if he doesn’t get hurt we’re in the playoff hunt
2) Decoud – I like what I saw from this guy as a first time starter, he needs to progress but overall a productive season with some real nice plays
3)Brent Grimes – he’s undersized and gets beat by big receivers, but I think we need to find a good place for him in the defense, this guy is a talent
4)Abraham – didn’t have a great season, but he’s the focus on our line so that’s why, he always sees double teams, he just needs help
5)Offensive line – wow, we’ve got some guys who can really be consistent, they’ve blocked well all year, week in and week out
OK Seasons:
1)Snelling – real nice running and great progression, I was surprised, but he needs to keep working, no reason he should be able to get a 4th and 1
2)Peterson & Brian Williams – real nice pickups
I am a diehard Chiefs fan, but when Tony went to the Falcons, I got his new jersey within the week. He is a class act, and outplayed witten numerically. I still can’t believe he got snubbed on the pro bowl, but he will be back in Hawaii next year, with a Super Bowl ring on his finger. He is now playing for a top notch team, that without the injuries, would have gone far this year, and will be tough to beat next year!
Falcons do not have any home run hitters. This is evident with the announcement of the Pro Bowl selection. If we had any, sure, they would be in the Pro Bowl. We need some play makers in every area of the D and O who can change the direction of the game. I think the loss to Dallas was the point where we started to go down and loss to the Carolina sealed the deal. I hope the “process” includes mandate to get some home run hitters in the next draft and through free agency. Love Falcons.
FIGURES THAT OUR GUYS WOULD GET SNUBBED MOST OF THE PEOPLE RUNNING THESE THINGS ARE SUCKERS FOR BIG NAME TEAMS. MAN THERE IS NO RESPECT FOR THE FALCONS IT SEEMS , EVEN THESE TEAMS WITH LESS THAN 4 WINS GET BIGGER SEGMENTS ON NFL SHOWS THAN US , ITS SICK.
Injuries hurt a football team, All you semi-pro observers should take notice. everybody starting, falcons 11-5 next year will be better,
This doesn’t surprise me. I’ve been a Falcon fan for many years and I’ve seen hundreds of games where the announcers are obviously commentating against the Byrds. During the Dallas game they said, “Dallas could easily be a 6-0 team”, but never mentioned the Falcons were 5-1 at the time of that game. Why is it that the Byrds couldn’t easily be 6-0? During the Jets game, It wasn’t about the Falcons D holding the Jets back to one score, it was all about how the Jets just weren’t playing up to par. It’s been so one sided in the commentary in the past 10 years, I quit listening to the TV announcers and tune into the local DaveFM radio where the announcers are actually Falcons fans. Thank goodness for Dave Archer and Jeff Van Note!! Falcons have been treated like red headed step children for 44 years, It won’t stop even when we win the Superbowl. I am sure the old AFL bastions will call it a fluke!! No respect I tell ya!!
Falconfreak, you are so absolutely right!!!
Chill outeveryone the Falcons will have their players at the Probowl this year. How do I know this ? Well just look at the date of the Pro Bowl game 1 week before the Super Bowl. Think about it whos going to send the best players to a nothing game to get injured before the big one.
They will surely have alternate players at the Pro Bowl. Go Gonzo,Lofton,Roddy.
