Maps and Notes for Week 12 Television

Two things are certain on Thanksgiving:

  • I’ll fall into a food comma at some point because of Mrs. J. Mike’s delicious cooking.
  • The Lions will play (and probably lose).

Before I turn on the office television to watch a little Thanksgiving pigskin and, later, go home to a feast, I’ll detail a little about the weekend television schedule.

(It’s sort of a blog tradition).

The Falcons will get into the holiday spirit by wearing 1966 throwback jerseys against the Buccaneers. For the first time in three weeks, a different FOX broadcast crew will call the game (get ready for Dick Stockton, Charles Davis and Laura Okmin). If you live in the blue area of the map above, you’ll get the game over the air.

As for other stations and time slots:

ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS ON THE TV MAP…

… Most of the country gets Colts-Texans on CBS. This may have seemed like a good idea a few weeks ago, but it’s going to be tough for the Texans to get back on track after a tough loss to the Titans with a game against the still-undefeated Colts.

… Is that little island in a sea of Colts-Texans coverage on Bowling Green, Ky.? I remember as a student at WKU we got odd games. This week it’s Browns-Bengals. In those days I’d get Chinese takeout and watch the game in the dorm. Can’t say this matchup would excite me.

… Washington-Philadelphia gets the most attention in the 1 p.m. time slot on FOX. Not sold this game will be a blowout.

… The Titans-Cardinals game was moved to 4:15, presumably for a larger audience. Call this Middle Tennessee bias, but that game could be better than Vikings-Bears. That said, nothing beats NFC North rivalries in November.
