Time for a Late Introduction

Should have done this earlier, but wanted to introduce the blogosphere to a new Falcons blog. We’re calling it “The Beat Blog” (news.blogs.atlantafalcons.com) and it’s being manned by John Manasso.

You’ve likely seen John’s byline on AF.com this season. A veteran sports and business newsman, John is helping with extensive coverage and analysis.

John will be blogging through Falcons games and, in the case of a road trip, closing out with a few thoughts while the rest of the AF.com team is jetting back to Atlanta.

I’m going to go watch the first season of Mad Men on DVD and pretend this never happened.

As losses go, a road loss to an AFC is the least harmful. There’s your good news.

That being said, it was clear from the beginning that Tom Brady would get every opportunity to get comfortable and get his mojo back.

We couldn’t do the Jets blueprint, because we don’t have as good a secondary. But it’s clear our front four can’t get pressure against a good offensive line on its own.

So we play bend but don’t break defense until we get gassed, and hope the offense comes through. It worked against the Panthers because we scored 28 points and converted third downs.

    Today, not so much.

The alarming thing about today was not our still-developing defense, which held on valiantly for a while.

It’s that we made their defense look like the 2000 Ravens. Next week, we’d better show more of that “urgency” Dimitroff has talking about.

I have to go now. Do yourself a favor and Google Christina Hendricks and January Jones, and take your minds off football for a while.

dave im wondering if u were watching the same game. while tom brady played descent matt ryan deffinately played better. it was pretty clear to me that our biggest opponent in new england was the guys in stripes but u cant just blame them its still a lose. our secondary played well untill the mmid of the 4th. our biggest concern is that our d-line got not pressure on tom brady. i could throw touchdown passes to randy moss being doubled by dion sanders and champ bailey if i had 10 secs to sit in the pocket. at one point i think i saw tom brady have a cup of hot chocolate while he waited for watson to get open. no secondary can cover 3 receivers and a tight-end that long.i think its time for a new d-coordinater maybe one whose not afraid to blitz. i mean if blitzing doesnt work atleast we tryed if u dont blits tom brady will beat u anyway.and one more thing Decoud needs to do some catching drills or go sit the bench and where is tye hill. why give a 7 round pick for a guy to sit the bench. bottom line d-line sucked and coaching sucked.

When turner does run it seems he has no where to go. Like blocking assignments are failing. Don’t get me wrong… We have a great team over all and will have a good year, but the rust is gone now.. We cant use the excuse of “knocking of some of the rust” anymore.

What about that catch Jenkins caught in the endzone? He had the guy beat why the HELL did he push off?

Also.. We hit New Englands crowd with a case of the Hush Mouth until the tempo started turning in their favor. Once the crowd got into it it was all she wrote…

What we need is more BLOCKING on both sides defense and offense

I remember watching the game and thinking it was a steady, yet sloppy back and forth game. the first two drives for each team looked identical. I personally think the turning point was Michael turners fumble. I remember seeing us drive to the red zone and thinking the momentum was in our favor and the crowd was quiet. That is when the ball came out and that was the turning point. The Pass interference call on Michael Jenkins is what killed us once and for all.
