Report: Falcons Sign Ferguson

According to a report in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Falcons signed veteran wide receiver Robert Ferguson on Thursday afternoon.

Ferguson spent six of his eight NFL seasons in Green Bay, where he was a second-round draft pick. In his career with the Packers and Vikings, the Texas A&M product has recorded 151 catches for 1,993 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Should any news about player signings — or workouts — become official, it will be reported on AtlantaFalcons.com.

The report is in line with the recent news of a season-ending injury to wide receiver Harry Douglas. The team is two receivers down thus far in training camp with the injury and the holdout of Pro Bowl receiver Roddy White.

First 7 – 8 yrs he was a decent slot receiver…avg yards is 13.2 between 400-500 a yr. He’s built like Jenkins so he can fight for the ball ( 6′1, 219lbs ). Can’t really find any notes on the guy so far though. Not sure how fast he is.

  5. Seriously.

I like Roddy alot, but requesting pay comparable to Larry Fitzgerald is a little toooooo much. Roddy is up and coming and in a few years he may get to that level of consistency and clutch performance. Just my opinion.

I think the team will benefit from Ferguson. When he is healthy, he plays a great game. Good call Coach>>>>>>>>>>>>>@playball

He is a beast!!!!! He will last longer than dicky. He has size for blocking and speed for running. The Falcons can use him in different areas on the field, but I would like to see him shine as a wr.All these moves the coaches are making will take the team further than last year.@Jboy

DJ Shockley might ne an interesting try at receiver. If he can catch, DJ is quick and elusive plus it adss the wrinkle of having two QBs on the field at same time and it allows Chris Redman to remain as back-up with DJ as the emergency QB.
